Zoë has reimagined the traditional Turkish art of Filografi to develop an innovative technique for creating striking portraits of iconic figures such as John Lennon, David Bowie, and Nelson Mandela. At first glance, these portraits resemble finely detailed pen and ink drawings, but a closer inspection reveals they are meticulously crafted from delicate wire and countless tiny nails, arranged on board with remarkable precision.
Each portrait is composed of hundreds of meters of enameled copper wire, intricately layered to form the subject's features, and thousands of nails, carefully placed to anchor the wire. The resulting works have a unique, subtly three-dimensional quality that captures the viewer's attention and evokes a sense of wonder at the complexity and skill involved.
Zoë's art pushes the boundaries of traditional portraiture, blending craftsmanship with creativity to produce pieces that both surprise and captivate. For more information or to inquire about her selected works, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
