The impulse for this work was to do with leaving behind that which no longer suits my life and to venture forth in to unchartered waters to arrive on new shores offering a greater life and life opportunities.

The early expressive acrylic brushed under painting is then built open using acrylic mediums until a composition has been determined. Then worked on with cold wax mixed with neat oil paints to add texture and deeper colour, applied with a palette knife. The painting is then built up in layers of body colour and cold wax, left to dry then worked over with glazes using brush and palette knife.
